6-METHOXYLUTEOLIN Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties |
Yellow crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from the leaves of Artemisia argyi, the aerial part of the aerial part of A. syringae officinalis. |
Uses |
Nepetin can be anti-tumor, insecticide, anti-SARS virus, and antibacterial. |
Biological Activity |
Zelan flavonoid (6-Methoxyluteolin) is a natural flavonoid isolated from Eupatorium ballotaefolium HBK with potent anti-inflammatory activity. Nepetin inhibits IL-6, IL-8 and MCP-1 secretion in ARPE-19 cells with IC50 values of 4.43 μM, 3.42 μM and 4.17 μM, respectively. |

Nepetin, 520-11-6 is a natural flavonoid
isolated from Eupatorium ballotaefolium HBK and is known to have anti-tumor,
insecticide, anti-SARS virus, and antibacterial properties. It is a yellow
crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic
solvents. It has a melting point of 267 degrees Celsius and a boiling point of
659.1 plus or minus 55.0 degrees Celsius, a density of 1.605, and a pKa of 6.48
plus or minus 0.40. It is slightly soluble in water and is derived from the
leaves of Artemisia argyi, the aerial part of the aerial part of A. syringae
officinalis.
Nepetin has many pharmacological
properties, including anti-inflammatory and antifungal activities. It has been
shown to inhibit IL-6, IL-8 and MCP-1 secretion in ARPE-19 cells with IC50
values of 4.43 μM, 3.42 μM and 4.17 μM, respectively. It also has a potential
calcium channel blocking effect and is a histamine receptor antagonist.
Nepetin has a wide range of potential
therapeutic applications, including the treatment of cancer, SARS virus, and
other infectious diseases. It has also been investigated for its potential use
in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and in the treatment of
Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to its medicinal uses, Nepetin
can also be used as a food additive to enhance the flavor and color of food. It
is also used as a dye in the production of cosmetics and other products.
